WINDERMERE, FL. -- Sun Devil senior Jared du Toit remained in contention at the conclusion of the second round of play at the Tavistock Collegiate, carding a two-under 70 Monday afternoon. At a tournament total two-under, 142 (72-70) the Arizona State captain sits in a tie for seventh, seven shots back of day-two leader Alejandro Tosti of Florida. Du toit, who recorded a fourth-place finish at this past week's Alister MacKenzie Invitational will look to garner his second-consecutive top-10 finish and the seventh of his Sun Devil career.
After opening his round to the tune of a series a pars followed by consecutive bogeys on four and five, the top-Canadian Amateur caught fire, tallying six birdies over an eight-hole stretch. Despite dropping strokes on holes 15 and 18 respectively, Du Toit appears poised for yet another strong finish Tuesday afternoon.
Collectively the Sun Devils slipped two spots from fifth to seventh, following their first round even-par 288 outing with a four-over 292 effort. No. 7 Florida, propelled by a second-round 11-under 277, solidified its position atop the leaderboard, while earning a nine-shot lead heading into the event's final round.
Joining Du Toit among the top-25, Freshman Blake Wagoner signed off on a one-over 73. At one-over for the tournament, Wagoner is currently positioned tied for 21st.
With play scheduled to conclude Tuesday, the Maroon and Gold are slated to tee it up alongside Illinois and Augusta beginning at 5:00 a.m. (PT).
