BERKELEY, Calif.—The Arizona State volleyball team (8-11, 1-6 Pac-12) took down Pac-12 foe California (7-10, 1-6 Pac-12) in four sets, 25-21, 21-25, 28-26, 25-22, on Friday at Haas Pavilion.

The win snaps ASU's eight-match losing skid, and also marks head coach Stevie Mussie's first conference victory at the helm of the Sun Devil program. The Sun Devils' last road conference win came on Nov. 15, 2015 at Utah.

"It's always great to get one in the win column, especially on the road against a conference opponent," Mussie said. "We had a good week of practice with lots of rest mixed in and the return on that was a good match."

Three Sun Devils finished the night with double-digit kills: junior Oluoma Okaro with 14, freshman Ivana Jeremic with 12, and Cassidy Pickrell with 11. Sophomore Jasmine Koonts added eight kills and a team-high four blocks.

"We passed well, set well, and we know that when Oly (Okaro) and Cassidy (Pickrell) hit well, we can be successful," Mussie said. "We've got another big challenge ahead of us tomorrow at Stanford, so we're going to rest up, watch some film, and get back to it."

Freshman Nicole Peterson posted her second career high in assists in three matches with 27, and junior Halle Harker finished the night with 17 digs, bringing her career total to 1,215, which is six digs away from breaking into the top-10 all-time at ASU.

Ashten Smith-Gooden led the Bears with 20 kills on .385 attacking, while Christine Alftin added 12 kills and Bailee Huizenga added 10. Cal also held a 10.0 to 8.0 edge on the block.

Up next, the Sun Devils travel to No. 12 Stanford on Saturday. First serve is set for 7 p.m. PT and will be live streamed on GoStanford.com.
