Difficult Decision Made to Leave Camp T Due to Weather

Difficult Decision Made to Leave Camp T Due to WeatherDifficult Decision Made to Leave Camp T Due to Weather
PAYSON, Ariz. – Due to formidable weather conditions throughout the past week and projected through the remainder of Friday evening, the Sun Devil Football coaching staff and administration have reached a decision to forgo the team's scheduled final practice at Camp Tontozona on Saturday morning and return back to Tempe.

The difficult decision comes after a week of inclement weather forced the early end to several scheduled Sun Devil football practices and walkthroughs.  With unsettled weather forecasted through the remainder of Friday evening, the safety and welfare of the Sun Devil student-athletes was moved to the forefront as field conditions would not be conducive to holding another practice at Camp Tontozona.

Due to the last-minute nature of the weather system currently rolling through Rim Country, it would also not be feasible from a logistical standpoint to move Saturday's final practice to a different location given the expected turnout from the faithful Sun Devil fan base.

Upon returning to Tempe, the football program will resume with its scheduled training camp. Saturday's final practice will not be rescheduled and the remaining practices will be closed to the public.

Sun Devil Football has a great history and relationship with the City of Payson and Camp Tontozona and is grateful for the overwhelming amount of support from the local fans in the area. Head Coach Todd Graham and Sun Devil Athletics look forward to continuing this great tradition in the future in one of the unique training camp locales in all of college football.
