TEMPE, Ariz. – The Louisville Sports Commission announced Sun Devil Football wide receiver Tim White has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2016 Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse.

The Hornung Award is annually presented to the most versatile player in the country.

White, who is the program's top returning wide receiver, finished his first Pac-12 season after transferring from junior college with 1,709 all-purpose yards, which ranked him 19th in the country for average all-purpose yards with 132.92. His eight touchdown receptions tied him for first on the team. In the 2015 Motel 6 Cactus Bowl, White set a bowl record with 289 all-purpose yards and team-leading two touchdowns. As a kick returner, White ranked 14th nationally and second in the Pac-12 with 27.0 yards per kickoff return, while also setting the single season school record with 972 return yards.

During week 7 of the 2015 season, White returned the kickoff 100 yards to tie the game against No. 4 Utah following the Utes' first touchdown of the game. That earned him Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week.

The wide receiver has also been practicing to play on the opposite side of the ball in 2016 as a defensive back.

Further demonstrating White's versatility is his accomplishments in his first season on the Sun Devil track and field squad. In 2016, White finished second in the triple jump at the Pac-12 Championships and won the NCAA West Regional to qualify for his first NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. He earned First-Team All-American honors after placing fourth at the NCAA Championships. During the indoor season in March, he also qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

White is one of eight Pac-12 players named to the preseason list.

Former running back Marion Grice was the last athlete to be named to the list, as he was a finalist in 2013 and on the preseason list in 2014. D.J. Foster was also named to the preseason list in 2013 and 2014.

About the Paul Hornung Award
The 2016 Watch List was compiled by a panel of college football experts based on a combination of 2015 statistics, career performance, SID recommendations and expectations heading into the 2016 season. Profiles of each player and information about the Award can be found atwww.paulhornungaward.com. Players will be added to the Watch List during the 2016 regular season based on performance.

The Louisville Sports Commission successfully launched the Paul Hornung Award in 2010 to honor its namesake and native son, and to promote outstanding performances by versatile college football players who often go unnoticed.

Texas Roadhouse signed on as presenting sponsor of the Paul Hornung Award in 2011 and will team with the Louisville Sports Commission to power fan voting again this season. College football fans nationwide will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite player during the regular season and again during the bowl season. Fan voting will open in late September and factor into the selection of the finalists and winner.

A panel of college football experts selects players for the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll based on performance each week during the season. A national selection committee comprised of 16 sports journalists and former NFL stars votes for the Hornung Award finalists and the winner, with fan voting powered by Texas Roadhouse comprising the 17th vote. Regional accounting firm Dean Dorton independently tabulates all votes. The winner is honored at a banquet presented by KentuckyOne Health in late February in downtown Louisville.
