Jared du Toit Wins Glencoe Invitational…
There’s no place like home. Reaffirming this notion, Sun Devil junior Jared du Toit carded a final round two-over 74 to capture the 2016 Glencoe Invitational hosted at the 7,491-yard, par-72 Glencoe Country Club in Calgary, Canada, Du Toit’s place of birth. The top Canadian Amateur paced the tournament’s impressive 61-player field, collecting a cumulative two-over 218 (70-74-74) over three-days of completion, to garner a wire-to-wire victory. An intermediate member of Glencoe, Du Toit by virtue of Saturday’s win became the prestigious tournament’s first host-club representative champion since 1995.
Courtesy of Du Toit’s winning efforts, he also officially earned an exemption in the final qualifier for the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open.
Coming off a solid junior campaign at Arizona State, in which the Sun Devil swinger notched five top-10 finishes in 13 outings, Du Toit will spend the summer competing as a member of the Canadian Amateur golf team headed by Derek Ingram.
Du Toit, the Sun Devils top returning starter in 2016-17, will look to fill the void of departing seniors Jon Rahm, Max Rottluff, and Alberto Sanchez this coming fall.

Jon Rahm Makes the Cut at U.S. Open/Represents Low Amateur…
You would be hard pressed to script a narrative any better than that of recent Sun Devil graduate Jon Rahm. Four years removed from his 11,000-mile trek from Barrika, Spain to Tempe, Arizona, Rahm is an 11-time collegiate victor, two-time Ben Hogan Award recipient, Pac-12 Champion, World Amateur Champion, two-time top-10 finisher on the PGA Tour, college graduate, and the list goes on.
Once an Arizona State freshman, new to the states and the English language, Rahm is now shining at the apex of professional golf, the U.S. Open.
Representing not only the low amateur, but the only non-professional to make the coveted 67-player cut, Rahm courtesy of an impressive second round one-under 69, became just the 18th amateur in 21 years to exceed 36 holes of competition at the championship.
Currently at a 48-hole-total seven-over 217, the top World Amateur sits in a tie for 46th with two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson and Byeone Hun An of Korea.
Providing the sizable U.S. Open gallery with a number of note-worthy shots, including a 135 hole-out for eagle on the 674-yard par-5 12th, Rahm certainly made waves in the event’s third day of action.
