SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Pac-12 Conference and Commissioner Larry Scott announced the Men's and Women's Track and Field All-Academic teams on Thursday, and seven Arizona State student-athletes earned First-Team honors.

Redshirt junior CJ Albertson, redshirt sophomore Cody Brazeal, and redshirt freshmen Matthew Eckles, J.P. Nelson and John Reniewicki all were named to the First-Team All-Academic list for the Sun Devil men. Sophomore Haleigh Fritts and junior Keyasia Tibbs were two women who earned First-Team honors.

The Devils also represent four of the seven total athletes between the women's and men's teams that hold a 4.00 GPA or above.

Albertson, who competed in his first NCAA Championship on Wednesday in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, has now earned four-time First-Team All-Academic honors with his second-straight merit in track and field along with two more in cross country. He's maintained a 4.00 GPA throughout college as an exercise and wellness major, while also graduating early in the fall semester and is now pursuing his teaching credential in graduate school. Albertson is also the only Sun Devil athlete to be voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country Team.

Brazeal earned his first track and field selection after back-to-back seasons with First-Team honors in cross country. Like Albertson, he also holds a 4.00 GPA with a biological sciences major. During the 2015-16 season, he ran two personal bests in the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Eckles, a pole vaulter, holds a 3.93 GPA with a focus in nursing and a minor in integrated health.

Distance runners Nelson and Reniewicki both hold two of the best GPA's in the conference, with a 4.00 and 3.93, respectively. Nelson is one of a few select students taking a class taught by ASU President Dr. Michael Crow.

Seven other men earned honorable mention, including Brandon Boys, Nick Dale, Ahmed Hassan, Bernie Montoya, Cody Moore, Ryan Norton and Riley Wattier

On the women's side, Tibbs holds the highest GPA of any athlete in the Pac-12 -- men or women -- with a 4.04 GPA. The fashion design major is the only other Devil who made the list to also qualify for the NCAA Championships, as she competes in the triple jump on Saturday, June 11. In 2015-16, the junior has broken both the indoor and outdoor school records in the triple jump. She also ran the anchor for a majority of the season in the 4x100 relay.

Fritts holds a 3.88 GPA with a focus in business finance. She has been one of the best vaulters for the Devils this season, with a best mark of 3.85m (12-7.50) this season.

Redshirt junior Ashley Weber is the only student-athlete to earn a Second-Team All-Academic honor, and is also her first time earning something other than honorable mention. She had previously earned honorable mention honors in 2014-15. She holds a 3.77 GPA with a psychology major and minor in women and gender studies.

Eight women earned honorable mention honors, including Alyssa Cornell, Maggie Ewen, Jasmine Gibbs, Ginger Jarchow, Melanie Johnson, Kendra Purifoye, Chelsey Totten and Kristiana Warth

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
