TULSA, Okla. -- The weather had to do more than rain to keep the Arizona State women's tennis team away from advancing to the round of 16 in both the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

After winning the first set of her round of 32 match against Cal's Klara Fabikova -- ranked No. 16 -- senior Desirae Krawczyk trailed 2-4 in the second set. She brought it all the way back to 6-6 and the rain began to fall as they started the tiebreaker.

As play resumed, Krawczyk seemed to hit the restart button as she did on Wednesday and rallied from down 2-4 again to win the tiebreak 6-4 and the match 6-3, 7-6 (4) for her 99th victory in her ASU career.

"Desirae really played good, aggressive tennis to beat Klara, who is a tough out," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "By reaching the round of 16, she becomes an All-American. Well deserved."

Krawczyk, the No. 35 singles player in the country, advances to the round of 16 for the first time in her collegiate career to play No. 8 Sinead Lohan of Miami (Fla.), which also gives her the first All-American honor of her career.

In doubles, senior Ebony Panoho and junior Alex Osborne -- ranked No. 15 in the country -- took on Dartmouth's Taylor Ng and Kristina Mathis, who are ranked No. 23.

After starting the second set at a 2-2 tie, the Australian duo cruised to a 6-3 victory in the first set.

The second set started in favor of Ng and Mathis, as they took an early lead. But like Krawczyk, Panoho and Osborne didn't roll over as they brought it back to a 4-4 tie before eventually winning the second set, 6-4, and the match.

"I'm extremely excited for Ebony and Alex to advance, as this is their first time in the NCAA individual portion of the tournament," said McInerney. "They played well today against a very good Dartmouth team and are thrilled to have the opportunity to become All-Americans with a win tomorrow."

The pair will also advance to the round of 16 to play
Bree Addison and Dani Wagland of Texas, who are ranked No. 16 in the country. Addison and Wagland defeated Giuliana Olmos and Gabby Smith of USC who are ranked No. 26.

"It was a great day for our girls," said McInerney. "I'm so happy for them to advance in both singles and doubles. Des has a tough match tomorrow, but is playing very well, so she feels confident and excited."
