TEMPE -- On Wednesday, the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Subcommittee selected the 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams that will compete in the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championships. Senior Desirae Krawczyk and Pac-12 Doubles Champions Ebony Panoho and Alex Osborne were selected to represent the Arizona State women's tennis program.
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 25-30 at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 19-24. The University of Tulsa will serve as host.
Named First-Team All-Conference on Wednesday morning, No. 34 Krawczyk will participate in her third-straight NCAA Singles Championships. The senior, who ranks fourth all-time in ASU history for singles victories, has not made it to the round of 16 after falling in the first round in 2015 and the second in 2014.
Her season has been one of her best, as Krawczyk has accumulated 26 victories on the season, which includes a win over then-No. 1 Francesca Di Lorenzo of Ohio State -- the second-straight season she has upset the top-ranked player. Krawczyk does not know who her first round opponent will be, as the schedule for singles has not been announced.
The Australian duo of Panoho and Osborne are playing their best tennis of the year entering the team championships, winning four-straight on their way to claiming ASU's first-ever Pac-12 doubles title -- including a victory over No. 4 Giuliana Olmos and Gabby Smith of USC in the semifinal.
The No. 21-ranked pair went 8-3 during the regular season and 15-7 since October, defeating three other top-20 teams.
The Sun Devil women's tennis program was represented by Krawczyk and her partner Stephanie Vlad in 2015, falling in the second round. The last pair to make it past the round of 16 was Jacqueline Cako and Nicole Smith in 2013 when they advanced to the quarterfinals.
All matches shall be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a seven-point tiebreaker (first to seven points, must win by two points) at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
