TEMPE, Ariz.—Four wrestlers with ties to the Arizona State wrestling team will compete at the USA Wrestling Olympic Trials on Saturday and Sunday in Iowa City at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
The wrestlers include current volunteer assistant coach Jordan Oliver (FS, 65 kg), 2015 alum Kevin Radford (GR, 85 kg), 2011 alumna Kelsey Campbell (WFS, 58kg), and current Sun Devil women’s wrestler Arian Carpio (WFS, 58 kg).
Both Oliver and Campbell are seeded at No. 3 in their respective weight classes.
A four-time All-American and two-time NCAA Champion for Oklahoma State, Oliver joined the Sun Devil wrestling program prior to the 2014-15 season. In 2015, Oliver won the Dave Schultz Memorial International Invitational, and was second in both the U.S. World Team Trials and U.S. Open.
Campbell, a member of the 2012 Olympic Team, wrestled for Arizona State in 2007-08, and still trains in Tempe. At the London Games, she competed in the 55kg freestyle weight class.
Radford, the long Sun Devil competing in the Greco Roman competition, wrestled for the Sun Devils from 2011 to 2015, qualifying for the NCAA Championships at 184 pounds in 2013.
Carpio, a native of Federal Way, Wash., joined the Sun Devils for her freshman season in 2015-16. She qualified for the Olympic Trials in fall of 2015.
Other Olympic Trials Qualifiers training in Tempe include Ed Ruth, Jarod Trice, Tyrell Fortune, and Jessica Medina.
NBC Sports will provide live coverage of each mat’s competition at the Olympic Trials. The finals will air live on NBC Sports Network at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 9.
