BERKELEY – The No. 20 Arizona State University softball team dropped a tough 7-6 decision on Saturday in Berkeley as the Cal Golden Bears rallied in the seventh inning to even the series at one game each.

ASU (26-10, 2-3 Pac-12) had 15 hits in the contest but stranded nine runners in the game. Taylor Becerra was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while 10 different Sun Devils logged a hit in the contest.

However, the ASU pitching rotation gave up 14 hits and was unable to get a big out in the seventh as the Bears rallied. Dale Ryndak took the loss for ASU, falling to 8-1 on the season.

Fa Leilua hit a two-run pinch-hit home run in the second inning while Jenn Soria knocked her third homer of the weekend.  ASU was 3-for-4 with pinch hitters on the day as Allie Butterfield and Katee Aguirre also had hits in the contest off the bench.

The two teams will return to the diamond for tomorrow’s rubber match at 2 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network Arizona and Bay Area.
