TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State beach volleyball team (11-10) reached the 10-win mark for the first time in program history on Saturday as it picked up a pair of sweeps over San Diego State and Grossmont College at the PERA Club.
Against San Diego State, ASU won by forfeit in each of the three lower seeds, while the No. 1s duo of Bianca Arellano and Whitney Follette and the No. 2s duo of Kwyn Johnson and Sydney Palmer both won their matches in straight sets.
In the sweep of Grossmont College, ASU opened with a win at No. 5, Logan Rae and Frances Giedraitis defeated Sammy Powell and Maddie Schaefer, 21-15, 21-9, followed by a win at No. 4 with Bethany Wedepohl and Jourdan Parnell sweeping Megan Angerstein and Callie Guasti, 21-19, 21-10.
Arellano and Follette clinched the Sun Devil victory as they swept Brooke Callahan and Robyn Arthur, 21-4, 21-13, at No. 1. At No. 2, Kwyn Johnson and Sydney Palmer defeated Tiffany Cobian and Hannah Doonan, 21-17, 21-18.
ASU capped the day with the win at No. 3, Madison Berridge and Mia Rivera defeating Makena Wilson and Gionni Brown, 21-14, 24-22.
The Sand Devils play at home one last time this season, hosting Pac-12 rival Arizona on Wednesday at 5 p.m. MT.
