TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State gymnastics’ senior Taylor Allex will compete as an individual event qualifier on Friday at the 2016 NCAA Championships hosted by Texas Woman’s University and the Knight Eady Sports Group at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
Allex will compete on vault after winning the Tuscaloosa Regional with a 9.900.
Allex hit a 9.900 on vault five times this season, and has hit a 9.900 or higher 10 times overall. This season she also has either won or tied for first on vault seven times.
The Becker, Minn. native is the Gym Devils’ first NCAA Championships qualifier since Mary Atkinson qualified as an all-arounder in 2010.
Allex will rotate with Oklahoma in the second semifinal session on Friday, slated for a 5 p.m. PT/7 p.m. CT start. Madeline Gardiner of Oregon State will also rotate with Allex and Oklahoma as an all-arounder.
The meet is set to air on ESPNU at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET, and live results will be available via NCAA.com.
