TEMPE -- While it seems like just any other two-in-two series at home due to the two remaining weeks of the regular season, the seniors of the Arizona State women’s tennis team could potentially be playing their last matches in front of their home crowd at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
Seniors Desirae Krawczyk, Ebony Panoho and Stephanie Vlad hope to continue the seven-game winning streak and potentially host an NCAA Regional tournament to be back in Tempe once again, but for now, they'll treat the upcoming two Pac-12 matches as if it was their last.
The No. 26 Sun Devils play host to No. 61 Washington on Friday, April 1 at 1:30 p.m. PT, while Senior Day will be played at noon PT against No. 62 Washington State.
"It's an important weekend because Washington & Washington State both need to probably beat us to get into the NCAA tournament," said McInerney. "So we're going to see the best from both teams. Washington's doubles are really strong and probably the best we're going to face all year. I think they've only lost one all season. We're going to have to be ready for that. They are as tough of matches as we've had at home this year."
As Krawczyk hits the final stretch of her ASU career, she currently sits in fourth on the all-time list in career singles wins with 93 while currently on a four-game winning streak. Only three other Devils in history have ever tallied more than 90 wins in their careers. She has five more regular season matches before the Pac-12 tournament.
Panoho and Vlad are both on current winning streaks as well at five and three respectively. Panoho has 67 singles victories over her four years while Vlad has captured 72.
In doubles, Vlad partners with Krawczyk as they have for two-straight seasons and are currently on a six game winning streak.
The Australian duo of Panoho and junior Alex Osborne -- currently ranked No. 22 together -- will look to get back to their winning ways as well.
The third duo -- junior Kassidy Jump and freshman Sammi Hampton -- is cruising with 13-straight doubles victories.
The Devils currently lead the series versus the Huskies, 25-6-1. Miki Kobayashi and Nour Abbes are Washington's top-ranked doubles pair at No. 28 in the country. Washington has won 14 of their 18 doubles point this season.
Against the Cougars, the Devils are nearly perfect with a 22-1 record all-time. Sophomore Donika Bashota leads WSU with a 34-6 record, breaking the school all-time record for wins in a season.
Admission to both matches are free and parking in lot 59 is also free to fans.
