TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona State gymnastics’ senior duo of Taylor Allex and Allie Salas will compete as individual event qualifiers at the NCAA Regional meet on Saturday in Coleman Coliseum on the campus of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Allex will compete on vault and floor, while Salas will compete in the all-around. The meet is slated for a 2 p.m. PT/4 p.m. CT start and will be streamed on SEC Network+, with live stats available on RollTide.com.

Allex has scored the Gym Devils’ top two scores on vault this year, tying her career high of 9.900 four times and hitting a 9.875 twice.  She also has ASU’s top-five scores on floor, including a career high 9.950 in the Gym Devils’ meet against California on Feb. 15.  Last season, Allex competed in the NCAA regional all-around competition in Norman, Okla., recording scores of 9.825 on vault, 9.775 on floor, 9.700 on bars, and 9.125 on beam.

Salas led the Gym Devils in the all-around this year, scoring a career high 39.100 twice, winning the all-around competition for the first time in her career against Arizona on Feb. 22 and again on Feb. 27 against UCLA.  This season Salas scored career highs on beam (9.725) and floor (9.875).

Additionally, junior Beka Conrad will travel as the alternate on balance beam.  Conrad led the Gym Devils on beam this year, scoring a season high 9.825 three times, most recently at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships.

Along with host No. 4 Alabama, No. 10 California, No. 15 Boise State, No. 21 Kentucky, West Virginia, and Bowling Green will compete will full teams, while individuals from Southeast Missouri State, Illinois-Chicago, Northern Illinois, Texas Women’s University, and Illinois State will compete against the Gym Devils.

The top two teams and top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Fort Worth, Tex. April 15-16, hosted by Texas Women’s University and the Knight Eady Sports Group.

In addition, the event winners at each regional site will advance to the national championships (in that event only) if they are not part of a qualifying team or an all-around qualifier.
