TEMPE -- The Pac-12 Conference announced their track and field athletes of the week on Tuesday afternoon, and redshirt sophomore thrower Magdalyn Ewen was awarded the women's field athlete of the week.
Ewen competed in three events at the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Conference Invitational between Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26, placing first or second in each of them.
Of the 78 points scored by the ASU women at the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Invite, Ewen tallied 26 of them between her three events.
In the women's discus -- and for the second-straight outdoor meet -- the Minnesota-native won the discus throw event with a toss of 51.72m (169-08). Last week at the Baldy Castillo Invitational, Ewen upset the reigning two-time NCAA Champion Shelbi Vaughan of Texas A&M as well.
She placed second in the women's hammer throw out of 20 competitors with a throw of 62.24m (204-02). On Saturday, she also took second in the shot put with a mark of 16.10m (52-10.00).
Ewen currently sits seventh in the country in the hammer throw, 18th in the shot put and 21st in the discus.
The sophomore entered the outdoor season after winning the MPSF Conference Indoor Championship in the women's weight throw.
