TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State women's tennis program is on something of a roll, winning three-straight Pac-12 matches in a row heading into their road trip to Oregon on Sunday, March 20.
The #25 Sun Devils will face their ninth top-50 ranked team of the season -- which also included matches against No. 1 California, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Pepperdine -- against whom they are 4-4.
"Indoors or outdoors, we expect a really tough match against Oregon," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "They have been playing very well and have won 10 or 11 matches in a row against good competition. The conditions are usually a bit quicker indoors but our kids have played three indoor matches this year, so we will be ready if we do go indoors."
The weather forecast shows thunderstorms and 57 degrees on Sunday, therefore likely putting the Sun Devils out of their element indoors.
Fortunately, as McInerney said, the women have had experience indoors this season and the adjustments that come with it.
Junior Kassidy Jump has been on a tear as of late, knocking off the then-No. 5 and No. 51 ranked women in the country that moved her to No. 54 in singles. After her two victories against Utah and Colorado, Jump is currently on a five-game winning streak.
In doubles, her and her partner Sammi Hampton are currently ranked No. 69 after defeating then-No. 41 Krista Hardebeck and Caroline Lampl of Stanford. Together they have only lost one match together during the regular season and are on a nine-game winning streak.
Hampton has been having the same success in singles, losing just one match all year -- to Stanford's Melissa Lord. She's currently 10-1 in her rookie regular season campaign.
As for ASU's top dog doubles combo -- senior Ebony Panoho and junior Alex Osborne -- the Australian pair is 5-1 currently with seven unfinished matches.
The Ducks are currently on a nine-game winning streak of their own after defeating No. 64 Arizona on Friday afternoon, 6-1.
