TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State women's golf team makes the shortest trip of their season for the Wildcat Invitational starting on Monday, March 14 at the Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson.
The No. 14 Sun Devils will be back in action after a week off since the Bruin Wave Invitational, in which they placed second as a team.
Sophomore Sophia Zeeb had a coming out party in her last tournament, but fell victim to an all too common mistake in signing the wrong scorecard on the final day. Despite the mishap, Zeeb's play through the three rounds was some of her best this season. On day one, Zeeb tied her best round of her young college career with a two-under 70. By the end of the tournament, she was in second place at two-under par as well.
Fellow teammate and February Pac-12 Women's Golfer of the Month Monica Vaughn tees off for the month of March and will see if she can match one of the best month's of her collegiate career.
February included Vaughn shooting a career-best four-under 65 with seven birdies on the final day to win the Northop Grumman Regional Challenge -- her first outright individual win of her career. During the month she also was one of eight women named to the U.S. Curtis Cup team.
On her first day of March, she finished her final round at the Bruin Wave Invitational with eight birdies to finish in a tie for ninth.
The tournament includes five other top-30 teams, including No. 12 Arizona, No. 19 Colorado, No. 21 UNLV, No. 24 New Mexico and No. 28 South Carolina.
The Devils will tee off on Monday at 8 a.m. and play 36 holes over the course of the day. Tuesday will also start at 8 a.m. for the final round.
