TEMPE, Ariz. -- After a historic victory over No. 20 Stanford for just the second time in program history, the Arizona State women's tennis program turns the page for the first Pac-12 Conference road trip.
The newly-ranked No. 26 Sun Devils (7-4, 1-1) moved up 10 spots in the rankings just in time to face Colorado (5-6, 0-0) and No. 63 Utah (9-3, 0-0), with the latter being flexed onto the Pac-12 Networks on Sunday at 12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT with play-by-play broadcaster J.B. Long and color analyst Mark Knowles on the call.
"The win over Stanford was certainly a confidence booster for the team, but with that being said, we all know how difficult it is to win on the road," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "We expect both of these matches to be tough affairs and have worked hard in practice this week to make sure we are well prepared for this weekend."
Last season against the Buffaloes and Utes, the Devils went 2-0 with 7-0 sweeps of both teams.
In singles, senior Desirae Krawczyk and junior Kassidy Jump are riding high following upset victories over the last two weeks.
Two weeks ago, Krawczyk surprised then-No. 1 Francesca Di Lorenzo of Ohio State, 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 10-3. She followed that up with an upset of No. 24 Taylor Davidson of Stanford on Saturday in straight sets, 7-6 (7-1), 6-3.
Junior Kassidy Jump has also been stirring the pot, with recent upsets over No. 5 Karla Fabikova of Cal and No. 51 Caroline Doyle of Stanford.
With arguably one of the toughest schedules over the last two weeks, the Sun Devil women have been battle tested leading into these two match-ups.
The Buffs play with a younger starting lineup than most, playing multiple freshmen along with just two upperclassmen. However, their freshman Tina Bokhua is currently ranked No. 70 and moving up the rankings, holding a 7-1 record in the No. 1 spot and 4-3 versus nationally-ranked opponents. She just recently had an eight-game winning streak snapped.
Utah's Alexia Petrovic, who plays in the sixth spot, currently holds a 10-2 singles record. Doubles pair of Margo Pletcher and Brianna Turley are currently on a four-match win streak and hold a 9-2 record as the No. 1 doubles team. When Utah has won the doubles point, they're also 7-2 on the season.
Friday's match against Colorado begins at 1:30 p.m. MT. Live stats will be provided at the link on their schedule here.
