TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State University volleyball’s head coach Stevie Mussie announced on Tuesday that Chris Rose will join the Sun Devil coaching staff as an assistant for the upcoming season.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this hire and the opportunity to bring Chris with me to Arizona State,” Mussie said. “Not only is he a great volleyball mind but he also has the ability to bring the culture that we’re trying to create here. Chris has the ability to recruit at a very high level and bring the best talent in the country to Tempe.”
Rose comes to ASU after spending this past season an assistant at East Carolina University, and prior to that he served as a volunteer assistant at the University of Buffalo.
"I would like to thank Stevie for this incredible opportunity to be apart of the Arizona State women’s volleyball family as well as Ray Anderson and his senior administration," Rose said. "I look forward to doing everything I can to make this program the best it can be on and off the court."
In college at Penn State, where Mussie previously served as an assistant coach, Rose served as the head student manager for the women’s volleyball program and saw action as a practice player, working with the coaching staff in the development of the scout team.
“I think a big part of this hiring process was bringing in people I know and I trust,” Mussie said. “I’ve known Chris since I set foot on campus at Penn State and I couldn’t be more excited to have him here. He comes from a great volleyball family and has seen some of the best volleyball there is to possibly see. I am excited for him to bring what he has seen to Arizona State and our team here now.”
Rose is the son of Hall of Fame Penn State volleyball coach Russ Rose and three-time All-American Lori Rose. At Penn State, Rose earned his Bachelor of Science in recreation, park, and tourism management in 2014.
