Sophomore Sophia Zeeb played a consistent round on the front and back nine, parring 15 holes along with one birdie.
Overall, not one team in the 16-school field shot under par combined. The lowest team score was a two-over round by No. 14 Washington who slid into first place.
"We struggled a bit today but I am confident this team will come together and make the last day their best day," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "This golf course is a true test and I am excited to watch my team compete tomorrow."
The women continue to outpace No. 9 Arizona and No. 10 Oklahoam State while nipping at the heels of No. 3 UCLA and No. 1 USC.
The Sun Devils continue to sit amongst the top in the tournament in pars made with 110 through two rounds. Only the Trojans and No. 12 Florida have more.
Stats and the golf course layout show the second round played tougher than the first, as 90 double bogeys were totaled versus 64 on the first day.
The front nine also shows to be playing tougher, with six of them among the highest handicaps.
The three par-5's are playing the easiest, with the 505-yard 7th being the only hole players are averaging under par for the tournament.
Oddly enough, the 205-yard, par-3 4th hole is the No. 1 handicap hole. The longer than normal par-3 is a steep downhill hole with a two-tiered green surrounded by bunkers, making it not only hard to estimate the distance but also to place a quality shot for a short birdie putt.
Nine of the 18 holes are also dog-leg lefts or rights, creating narrow fairways at the elbows and calling for more accurate shots.
