LOS ANGELES—The Arizona State gymnastics team competed in its last Pac-12 conference match-up of the regular season Saturday afternoon at UCLA. The Gym Devils achieved individual highs but were unable to overcome the Bruins. ASU posted a score of 192.950 while UCLA finished with a score of 196.625.
Senior Allie Salas posted her second straight all-around victory, posting a total 39.050, with scores of 9.775 (V), 9.725 (UB), 9.675 (BB), and 9.875 (FX). Last week against Arizona, Salas scored a career high 39.100.
The Sun Devils started on bars and senior Carissa Kraus led the Gym Devils in the event with a score of 9.800.
On vault, the Gym Devils posted a score of 48.350 and had a team total of 95.325 after the second rotation. Senior Taylor Allex had a score of 9.850 and tied for first place overall in the event. Allex has won vault four times this season, and has seven wins overall.
After the third rotation the Gym Devils trailed UCLA 147.150 to 144.325. ASU continued its consistency on floor, posting a team score of 49.000. Seniors Salas and Allex scored the highest for the Gym Devils, Allex scoring a 9.900 while Salas tied her career-high score of 9.875.
On beam, the Gym Devils posted a team score of 48.625 and freshman Justine Callis posted a season-best score of 9.750. Salas tied her season-best score of 9.675 and Allex also posted a season-best score of 9.725.
Up next the Gym Devils will take on Penn State on Friday, Mar. 4 at 7 p.m. MT at Wells Fargo Arena. This will be final home meet of the regular-season for the Gym Devils as well as senior night. Taylor Allex, Carissa Kraus and Allie Salas will each be honored during the meet alongside their family members.
