CORVALLIS, Ore.—The Arizona State gymnastics team competed in its first Pac-12 road meet of the season on Saturday, against Oregon State at Gill Coliseum. The Gym Devils had another meet of season-best scores and senior Allie Salas finished the meet with a career-high all-around score of 38.875. The Beavers defeated the Sun Devils 195.875 to 193.075.
The Sun Devils had a score of 47.375 after their first rotation, bars, but quickly improved in on vault, scoring 48.450. Senior Taylor Allex’s score of 9.850 on vault was the highest score of the meet, marking the third time this season that she’s won an event.
ASU was strongest on floor, posting a team score of 48.750. Heather Udowitch made her college debut in the event finishing with a score of 9.675. Allex placed second overall in the event with a score of 9.875.
On beam, freshman Katelyn Lentz led the Gym Devils with a season-best score of 9.825, and also took third overall in the event. Salas’ score of 9.800 in the event allowed her to be competitive as well as solidify her new career-high all-around score. Additionally, freshman Justine Callis achieved a season-best score of 9.725.
Up next ASU will travel to Stanford to face the Cardinals on Monday Feb. 8. The meet will take place at 7 p.m. MT. at Burnham Pavilion.
