TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State women's tennis team welcomes No. 43 Princeton and unranked University of Texas-El Paso for back-to-back dual matches at Whiteman Tennis Center on Thursday and Friday.
The No. 27-ranked Sun Devils return home following the Palm Springs Invitational from Jan. 15-17 and the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Stillwater, Okla. from Jan. 23-24.
"We're looking forward to our first two home matches of the season," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "We have a very strong Princeton team on Thursday, so they have been our focus after last Sunday's match against Notre Dame.
"We all are excited to be at home against two quality opponents."
The last time the women got to play on their home court they played some of the best tennis of the fall season at November's ASU Thunderbird Invitational, which was highlighted by senior Desirae Krawczyk's championship victory.
Since then, Krawczyk has won the Palm Springs Invitational and the Sun Devils teamed up for a 1-1 finish at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
After dropping a close one to No. 26 Northwestern, the women bounced back with a 4-0 sweep of No. 32 Notre Dame this last weekend.
Freshman Sammi Hampton was the only one to earn a point in each match over the weekend, defeating Northwestern's Alex Chatt 6-3, 6-1, and Notre Dame's Mary Closs 6-3, 6-3. She also helped pick up a point with junior teammate Kassidy Jump in doubles play against Notre Dame.
Princeton enters Thursday match after sweeping its first two dual matches against Delaware and Grand Canyon University 7-0. This will be the first meeting between the two since the Tigers knocked out the Sun Devils in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament, 4-3.
As for the Miners, they enter Friday with a 3-1 record -- barring the result of their meet with Arizona on Thursday -- with victories over Northern Iowa, Iowa State and Central Oklahoma. UTEP's only loss came at the hands of fellow Pac-12 opponent Colorado, 2-5.
ASU will play Princeton on Thursday, Jan. 28 at Whiteman Tennis Center at 1:30 p.m. MT. They will turn around on Friday and take on UTEP at 1:30 p.m. MT at home as well.
"Beautiful weather and great competition set up for this week -- what more could you ask for," McInerney said.
