STILLWATER, Okla. -- The Arizona State women's tennis program wrapped up the ITA Kick-Off Weekend with a 4-0 victory over No. 32 Notre Dame on Sunday morning.
"I'm really proud of the way our team came out today after a tough loss yesterday," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "We had a lot of energy and played good, aggressive tennis."
Senior Desirae Krawczyk and junior Gussie O'Sullivan paired up once again in the doubles portion of the match, defeating Mary Closs and Jane Fennelly 6-2.
On court two, junior Kassidy Jump and freshman Sammi Hampton gave the No. 27 Sun Devils a 1-0 lead with a 6-3 victory over Brooke Broda and Allison MIller.
In singles, each of the six women won their first respective sets. It became a race to who would earn the first three victories to give ASU the win.
Junior Alexandra Osborne finished her match over Julie Vrabel on court six, 6-3, 6-2.
Not minutes later, freshman Sammi Hampton closed out her match with Closs with a 6-3, 6-3 finish.
As O'Sullivan was tied 2-2 with Broda on court five, Jump earned the clinching point for ASU with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Notre Dame's Monica Robinson.
"Alex, Sammi and Kassidy played very well to close out their singles matches," McInerney said. "This was a good weekend for us as we got a chance to play two very good teams right off the bat which will be helpful as we have a challenging schedule throughout the year.
"A good win today but plenty of things we can continue to improve upon."
ASU finished 1-1 at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Stillwater.
The Sun Devil women return home for their first home dual match of the regular season against No. 43 Princeton on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
