For the first time in Sun Devil Hockey history, a player scored a hat trick. And who else but Jordan Masters?
The freshman who leads the team in goals and points scored three times to lift ASU to a 6-1 win and series sweep over Ohio.
"It's what the kid does," head coach Greg Powers said. "He's having a great time here. He's going to have a great career."
Masters scored the first goal in the game, as the Sun Devils came out of the gate hot, scoring twice in the first 3:20 of the game. He continued with the fourth and fifth goals and became the first Sun Devil with three in a game.
ASU also collected goals from Michael Cummings, Sean Murphy and Liam Norris. Ryland Pashovitz started between the pipes and made 15 saves.
The Sun Devils finish their Division I schedule this weekend when they hit the road for three in Massachusetts. They play Friday and Saturday against No. 9 UMass-Lowell before completing the trip against Merrimack College.
ASU's next home games are Feb. 5-6 against Division III Wisconsin-Eau Claire at Oceanside Ice Arena.
