TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Football true freshman defensive back Kareem Orr has been named to the 15th annual Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team, the FWAA announced Monday.
Orr, one of the three Pac-12 student-athletes on the FWAA’s team, has earned freshman All-America honors from six publications, including first-team recognition from the FWAA, USA Today, and ESPN.com.
Orr, who is from Chattanooga, Tenn., is the 10th Sun Devil to earn freshman All-America honors in head coach Todd Graham’s four seasons at Arizona State, and the second in 2015 as defensive lineman Jo Jo Wicker was recognized by three publications.

Orr led the Pac-12 with six interceptions, a mark that ranked tied for seventh in the nation among all players and tied for first among freshmen, and set an ASU freshmen record. His 21-yard interception return for a touchdown sealed the Devils’ Territorial Cup win on Nov. 21, and he added three interceptions against All-Pac-12 quarterbacks and one in the Motel 6 Cactus Bowl on Jan. 2.
He appeared in 12 games and notched 38 tackles, including 31 solo and 1.5 for loss, and added eight deflections, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in his debut season.
