The Sun Devils started off strong, not allowing a shot for the first six minutes of the game and outshooting the Mavericks for the first half of the period. The entire frame saw both teams trade opportunities before Omaha broke through at the 18:42 mark. Omaha scored again 1:11 into the second period to take a 2-0 lead.
ASU appeared to get on the scoreboard at the 10:51 mark of the second period when a rush in front of the net ended with the puck in Omaha’s net. Goal was the call on the ice but the officials took a look and determined it was due to goaltender interference. It was waved off and the score remained 2-0.
Omaha added two more before the second period was over and more in the third.
The Sun Devils will take next weekend off before traveling to Minnesota to take on another NCHC foe in St. Cloud State. That two game series will be Jan. 1-2, 2016.
