SAN FRANCISCO—Arizona State volleyball’s senior middle blocker/outside hitter Whitney Follette and junior outside hitter Bree Bailey were named to the 2015 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention list, the conference announced on Tuesday.
One of the most successful blockers in program history, Follette led the Sun Devils with 138 blocks on the season, bringing her career total in block assists to 362, No. 2 all-time at ASU. She is also just the fourth Sun Devil to surpass 400 total blocks in a career, sitting at No. 3 all-time with 446.
Follette moved into the 400-block club in October, when ASU defeated Colorado in four sets in Tempe. She scored the match-winning point with the block. Midway through the season, Follette moved from middle blocker to outside hitter, and is No. 3 on the team with 243 kills for a season attack percentage of .245, the second-highest mark for those with 200 kills or more.
Bailey sits at No. 2 on the team this season in kills with 281, and has posted 93 total blocks on the year, third-most on the team. Bailey recorded a season-high 18 kills on Nov. 22, ASU’s home finale versus USC, and also totaled 10 total blocks in ASU’s home-opening win over NAU on Sept. 8.
This is Bailey’s second All-Conference honor since she was named to the Pac-12 All Freshman Team in 2013.
The Sun Devils’ season continues on Thursday when ASU takes on Florida State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The match is set for a 2:30 p.m. MT/4:30 p.m. ET start at the University of Florida’s Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, and will air on ESPN3.
