SAN FRANCISCO—Seven members of the Arizona State volleyball team were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Teams, the league and Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Wednesday.
Leading the way for the Sun Devils was junior Kizzy Ricedorff (Willey), who earned First Team honors for the second straight season. Ricedorff owns a 3.80 GPA and is majoring in communications.
Senior Bianca Arellano and sophomore Halle Harker earned Second Team honors, with Arellano posting a 3.66 GPA in kinesiology and Harker recording a 3.62 GPA in secondary education. Arellano previously earned honorable mention recognition for her academic efforts in 2014.
Four Sun Devils were named to the Honorable Mention list: junior Bree Bailey, and seniors Mercedes Binns, Whitney Follette, and Macey Gardner. This is Binns’ first career honor, Bailey’s second, and Follette and Gardner’s third.
In the history of the program, ASU has earned 69 Pac-12 All-Academic awards, the most in the conference. This season’s seven honorees marks the second-most all-time, following the 2014 season’s record eight honorees.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and appear in at least 50 percent of their team’s games.
The Sun Devils take on Oregon on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. PT/9 p.m. MT, live streamed via GoDucks.com.
