TEMPE, Ariz. - Sixteen members of the Arizona State University cross country teams have earned Pac-12 Conference All-Academic honors, conference commissioner Larry Scott announced on Monday.

The 10 men and six women create the largest group for cross country since the 2009 season when 19 were honored for the Sun Devils.

Redshirt junior C.J. Albertson, redshirt sophomore Cody Brazeal and redshirt freshmen J.P. Nelson and Ryan Normand were the only four athletes from the Pac-12 who have a 4.00 GPA. They were joined by redshirt freshman John Reniewicki as the five first-team honorees from ASU and made up half of the first team student-athletes.

This becomes the second-straight year Albertson and Brazeal received first team honors.

Redshirt senior Jeffrey Bickert, redshirt freshman Brandon Boys, redshirt freshman Nick Dale, redshirt senior Ryan Herson, junior Bernardo Montoya and senior Riley Wattier all earned honorable mention.

For the women, junior Jenna Maack was the only Sun Devil named to the first team list with a 3.96 GPA -- the second-highest of the Pac-12 honorees.

Senior Cristina Juan Torres was also the only female to earn second-team honors with a 3.72 GPA. Her teammates -- redshirt senior Shaina Corbin, redshirt junior Kaitlin Kaluzny, redshirt freshman Lea Patek and junior Chelsey Totten -- received honorable mention.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
