TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 24 Arizona State volleyball team (19-9, 8-9 Pac-12) fell in five sets to No. 11 UCLA (25-5, 13-4 Pac-12), 25-22, 22-25, 19-25, 28-26, 15-10 on Senior Night on Friday evening at Wells Fargo Arena.

Junior Bree Bailey led ASU with 14 kills and seven total blocks, while senior Whitney Follette and junior Cassidy Pickrell each added 11 kills for the Sun Devils.

“I look at tonight and I look at last weekend and we talk about margins and we talk about them being pretty thin,” head coach Jason Watson said. “I feel for this team and I feel for this staff and I feel for our seniors who didn’t get a win on Senior Night so it just further confirms to me how thin margins could be.”

ASU led the blocking battle on the night 21.0 to 10.0, led by senior Mercedes Binns’ 10 total blocks (five solo, five assists). With her five block assists, Binns is now tied with Debbie Penney (1988-91) for seventh in ASU history with 276. The total blocks in the second-most that ASU has amassed in the rally scoring era, tied with the same number from last season at Oregon (Oct. 24).

The setter duo of Bianca Arellano (19) and Kylie Pickrell (18) combined for 37 assists, and Arellano added 19 digs for her team-leading 13th double-double of the season.

Jordan Anderson led the Bruins (22-5, 13-4 Pac-12) with 24 kills, while setter Zana Muno finished with 59 assists and 13 digs.

Up next for the Sun Devils is a matchup against No. 1 USC at 7 p.m. PT on Sunday, Nov. 22. That match, the 2015 home finale, will be live-streamed on thesundevils.com with Troy Lynch (pbp) and Zac Pacleb (color) on the call.
