COLLEGE STATION / AUSTIN, Texas - The Arizona State men's 4x200 relay squad swam the fastest time in the country to date on Friday evening at the Art Adamson Invitational.

Sophomore Patrick Park, senior Sean Kao, and juniors Thomaz Martins and Barkley Perry touched with a time of 6:29.91 for first place in the final event of the evening. The previous fastest recorded time was by Florida at 6:37.20.

Park -- who already finished in third place in the men's 50-yard freestyle on Thursday -- picked up another third place finish in the men's 100-yard butterfly in the men's championship finals. His time of 47.33 was not only good for third in the meet, but good for third all-time in ASU history. It also earned him a "B Standard" qualifying time.

Senior Kyle Sockwell -- while qualifying for the consolation final in the men's 400 IM -- turned in a time of 3:53.54, which earned him second in the consolation final but would have been good enough for fifth in the championship final. It was also good enough for a "B Standard" qualifying time.

Just like on Thursday, junior Barkley Perry just missed out on the qualifying for a championship final, and this time in the men's 200-yard freestyle. In the consolation final, he once again took first place with a time of 1:37.09, which would have put him in third place in the championship final. Like Park and Sockwell, it was also good enough for a "B Standard" qualifying time. Perry continued to perform well with a time of 47.84 in the men's 100-yard backstroke for another "B Standard" time.

Sophomore Christian Lorenz had an excellent showing in the men's 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 54.47 for fourth place -- and also a "B Standard" qualifying time.

On the diving side, sophomore David Hoffer earned another fifth place victory on day two of the UT Invite with a score of 371.00.

For the lady Sun Devils, junior Katarina Simonovic recorded a time of 1:45.98 for a third-place finish in the women's 200-yard freestyle. It was also a "B Standard" qualifying time for the sophomore.

Three of the four relay squads for the Sun Devils seemed to have the officials out to get them, as the three were disqualified for having swimmers leave early.

The Sun Devil swim team will finish their three-day invitationals on Saturday. Swimming will begin on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. CT.
