KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - After a rough second day at the Tennessee Fall Invitational, the Sun Devil women's tennis team competed through the final day against Ohio State and Wake Forest.

ASU finished strong enough that head coach Sheila McInerney was very pleased with her team and their competitive edge throughout the three-day tournament.

Despite splitting the six singles matches with the Buckeyes, McInerney liked the back and forth play between the two teams and how her women continued to bounce back.

"I felt today was another really competitive day of matches, which is great for us at this time of the year," McInerney said. "Ohio State has a really good team and they compete extremely well and hard. It forced our team to match their intensity and overall we did a very good job."

Juniors Gussie O'Sullivan and Kassidy Jump played outstanding in the three days, winning all three of their singles matches against Ohio State, Wake Forest and Tennessee. When paired up, Jump and freshman Sammi Hampton won their two doubles matches as well. Jump also took the only match she was paired up with junior Alexandra Osborne.

"We certainly can take some positives from this weekend and also have things we need to improve upon," McInerney said.

The women enjoy a week off before hosting the annual ASU Thunderbird tournament in Tempe starting on Friday, Nov. 13.
