TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State University women’s soccer players Cali Farquharson and Chandler Morris were named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week and Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, according to an announcement by the conference office on Tuesday.

Both players came through with outstanding performances in ASU’s 4-1 upset of No. 23 Arizona in the annual Territorial Cup® Series meeting.

Farquharson, a senior forward playing in the final game of her career, tied the single-game school record with three goals in Friday’s win, the third hat-trick of her career. Farquharson, who concluded the regular season as the Pac-12’s leader in both goals per game (0.72) and points per game (1.71), scored her first goal 50 seconds into the game to give ASU the early lead. She started the second half in similar fashion, scoring 61 seconds into the second frame to extend ASU’s lead to 3-0. A little more than four minutes later she added her third goal of the game to put the Sun Devils up 4-0. With the three goals Farquharson, who missed 4.5 games this season due to injury, brought her season goal total to 10 making her the first player in program history to post a double-digit goal total all four years of her career. It’s the third Pac-12 Player of the Week honor for Farquharson, who concluded her Sun Devil career second all-time in goals (44), points (102) and tied for second in game-winning goals (13).

Morris, a redshirt senior also playing in the final game of her career, came through with a brilliant performance in Friday’s win as she made six saves against the Wildcats, who came into the contest ranked second in the Pac-12 in goals per game. Although the Sun Devils ended up winning the game by three goals, it was Morris’ play in the first half that put them in position to turn the game into a one-sided affair. After Farquharson’s early goal, the Wildcats turned up the offensive pressure in an attempt to tie the game. Over the next 20-plus minutes of the game the Wildcats would accumulate six shots and four corner kicks. Five of the six shots were on frame and Morris would come through with saves on all of them, including a shot in the 28th minute that came in front of the goal. Less than eight minutes after Morris and the Sun Devil starting back line – seniors Sara Tosti and Alyssa Martinez, junior Mckenzie Grossman and sophomore Madison Stark – turned back the Wildcats’ barrage of attempts, the Sun Devils would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 37th minute on a goal by McKenzie Berryhill. It’s the third Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week award for Morris and the second straight season she has earned the award following a Territorial Cup® Series game.

The Sun Devils (9-8-1, 5-5-1 Pac-12) concluded their 2015 campaign tied for sixth place in the Pac-12. They closed the season winning five of their final six games, including road wins at No. 18 Washington and at No. 23 Arizona.
