Arizona State has a rich history of Academic All-Americans, and since the turn of the century is among the nation’s best.
Last year Amber Freeman closed out her softball career with first-team honors, while Ryan Burr (baseball) and Alex Harting (track and field) earned second-team honors.
In 2013-14 soccer players Jasmine Roth and Kaitlyn Pavlovich notched second- and third-team honors, while Bailey Wigness and Freeman notched first- and second-team honors for the softball team in the spring.
It all started with basketball players Art Becker (first-team) and Tony Cerkvenik (third-team) in 1962-63.
