LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Arizona State doubles pair of Desirae Krawczyk and Stephanie Vlad were knocked out of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Thursday, Oct. 8.
The No. 5-seeded pair got a bye in the first round of the main draw doubles bracket, but would fall to Georgia's Ellen Perez and Mariana Gould 8-5 in the second round.
"I think the overall level of hte match was not bad," assistant coach Matt Langley said. "We came out with pretty good energy, but probably experienced a little dip midway through the pro-set. So I think being able to sustain our level for longer periods will help us in the future."
Despite the loss, it is the ladies first match and tournament together of the season and Langley says there were some good things to take from the match and some things to learn from.
"We hit some great balls early in points, but we didn't always take advantage of them," he said. "So I think looking to be more aggressive and take chances will be key for us going forward. I am looking forward to our response tomorrow."
Vlad and Krawczyk will move to the consolation bracket as the No. 2-seed and play again on Friday afternoon at 10 a.m. against Florida State's Gabriella Castaneda and Emily Fanning.
