BERKELEY, Calif. - The Arizona State women's tennis team dug in their heels for Day 2 of the Cal Nike Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 3 after a long first day of the tournament.

Both doubles teams competed early in the morning in the semifinal round, with No. 4-seed senior Ebony Panoho and junior Alexandra Osborne advancing past UC-Santa Barbara's Palina Dubavets and Stefani Stojic, 8-5. Junior Kassidy Jump and freshman Sammi Hampton fell to No. 1-seed Denise Starr and Maegan Manasse of Cal, 8-4.

Panoho and Osborne advance to the finals on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. PST against the No. 1-seed of Starr and Manasse that knocked out Jump and Hampton.

On the singles side of the tournament, Hampton and Panoho both had tough draws against Cal's No. 1 and No. 2-seeds. Hampton lost to Maegan Manasse in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. Panoho fell to Klara Fabikova also in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (3).

"Give credit to Cal as they really were tough today," head coach Sheila McInerney said.

The Sun Devils will give Cal one last go around, as the doubles look to come out on top on Sunday.

The ladies singles and doubles that were knocked out will play in the consolation bracket in the afternoon as well at Channing courts.
