MADISON, Wis.– The Sun Devil hockey team started its road trip on a sour note Friday, ending up on the wrong end of a 5-1 decision.
After a scoreless first period, the Sun Devils drew first blood just 12 seconds into the second period when freshman forward Jordan Masters poked the puck through a flurry of sticks in front of Wisconsin's net. The goal was Masters' third of the season, which leads the team. His eight points are tied for the team lead with freshman defenseman Joey Raats.
Masters' line, which also included freshmen Joe Lappin and Matt Kennedy played well all game, as Lappin and Kennedy assisted on Masters' goal. The trio also had some quality scoring chances in the early goings before converting in the second period.
The Sun Devils complete their series with Wisconsin Saturday at 5:00 p.m. PT/7:00 p.m. CT at the Kohl Center in Madison.
