KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Arizona State women's tennis team finished day one at the Tennessee Fall Invitational going 3-3 in doubles play against Ohio State and winning four of the six singles matches versus Tennessee.

"Good start to the tournament and I felt overall we played well," head coach Sheila McInerney said. "We had three tough three-set singles matches which I felt we played some excellent tennis. Love the team format of this event and look forward to another competitive day tomorrow."

The meet is set up like a spring team event, which is rare for a fall invitational. Like McInerney said, it's a format the Sun Devils like playing in at this time of the year.

The day started at 3 p.m. EST for ASU, as they took on the Buckeyes in doubles. OSU took the first two matches before ASU bounced back with two of their own. The two would split the final two matches for a 3-3 tie.

In singles, No. 26 Desirae Krawczyk and freshman Sammi Hampton had hard fought battles going three sets and each needing a tiebreaker in the first set.

Day two continues tomorrow as the Sun Devils take on Wake Forest in doubles at 9 a.m. AZT and then singles against the Demon Deacons at 10 a.m. AZT.
