TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's tennis team will get back on the courts this weekend, but this time on the east coast as they travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Tennessee Fall Invitational.

"We're looking forward to it," head coach Sheila McInerney said. "We haven't competed in a couple weeks. This is more of a team event and you know, in the fall you do a lot of individual tournaments, but this is more of a real true team event. We'll play doubles against one team and singles against another. It simulates a dual meet which usually doesn't happen until January."

The University of Tennessee is hosting the rare fall format with the Sun Devils, Wake Forest and Ohio State.

"Three really good teams are participating," McInerney said. "We'll get to see Ohio State who we play in February in Columbus. They beat us in that barn-burner last year and they're actually better than they were a year ago. So it's really good and going to be great competition. Like I said, the kids haven't competed in a couple weeks so they're relaly looking forward to it."

All seven members of the team will be competing for ASU in doubles and singles competition.

The Sun Devils start doubles play on Friday at 3 p.m. EST against Ohio State. They'll then turn right around for singles play starting at 4 p.m. against Tennessee. Day two will consist of doubles and singles against Wake Forest starting at 12 p.m. Sunday rounds out the three-day tournament with singles against the Buckeyes at 10 a.m. followed by doubles against the Volunteers at 12 p.m.
