TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 13 Arizona State volleyball team (17-5, 6-4 Pac-12) won its second match of the weekend, defeating the visiting Colorado Buffaloes in four sets (25-21, 8-25, 25-12, 25-23) on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

“This was a pretty solid weekend for us,” head coach Jason Watson said. “To be able to defend home court, that’s a pretty big deal in this conference.”

Senior Whitney Follette had nine kills and added four blocks for ASU. Follette’s fourth block, which won the match for the Sun Devils in the fourth set, gave her 400 blocks in her career, marking her as the fourth Sun Devil in program history to do so.

Junior Bree Bailey led the Sun Devils with 16 kills and four blocks. The 16 kills were a season high for Bailey, who hit .483 for the match.

“Bree Bailey has certainly risen to the challenge that we’ve asked of her,” Watson said. “She came through with some really clutch kills for us, especially late in game four.”

Freshmen Lexi MacLean and Jasmine Koonts continued to play well for ASU, recording six and five kills, respectively. Koonts did not record an error on Saturday, finishing with an attack percentage of .500 to go along with her five blocks.

The setter duo of Bianca Arellano (20) and Kylie Pickrell (12) combined for 32 assists. Arellano now has 2,944 assists in her ASU career, 12 assists away from passing Jennifer Helfrich for fourth in school history.

Alexis Austin led Colorado (13-9, 5-5 Pac-12) with 15 kills and three blocks, while Gabby Simpson added nine kills and 10 digs.

Up next for the Sun Devils is a two-game road trip. ASU takes on Stanford on Wed., Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. PT, and will face California on Thurs., Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. PT. The match against Stanford will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
