LOS ANGELES—The No. 10 Arizona State volleyball team (15-4, 4-4 Pac-12) dropped a three-set match to UCLA (15-3, 6-2 Pac-12), 25-21, 25-16, 30-28, on Sunday at the Wooden Center.
"Our goal moving forward is to find a sustained level of intensity,” head coach Jason Watson said. “There have been moments, great moments. We need to be better for longer periods of time. It's not going to happen overnight, but it's going to happen."
Junior Bree Bailey led the Sun Devils with 13 kills, tying her season high, which included nine in the third set. Senior Whitney Follette added 10, along with eight total blocks.
Follette totaled five block assists, bringing her career total to 326, three away from tying for No. 2 all-time at Arizona State with Sonja Markanovich’s (2008-11) career total of 329. The school record sits at 378 block assists by Tina Berg from 1987-90.
Freshman Lexi MacLean, who recorded her second straight start, led ASU with 10 digs, and also added seven kills and two blocks. Seniors Andi Lowrance and Mercedes Binns both added four block assists for the match.
Up next, the Sun Devils return to Wells Fargo Arena for the first time in two weeks to host Utah and Colorado, which will round out the first half of the Pac-12 slate. The match against the Utes is set for 6 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks, while the match against the Buffaloes will start at 7 p.m. PT and will be live streamed on TheSunDevils.com
