The Sun Devils took another tough loss on its Connecticut road trip, falling Friday to UCONN 5-1 and making it 0-2 on the roadtrip.
The Huskies jumped out to an early lead, socring at the 1:42 mark of the first period. They added two more in the frame, and then one apiece in the second and the third.
Junior forward Ryan Belonger scored for the Sun Devils, his second of the season, assisted by freshman defenseman Joey Raats, his third helper of the year. Belonger and Raats each have a point in the three NCAA games in which ASU has scored.
ASU had four players make their NCAA Division I debuts: forward Cody Gylling, goalie David Jacobson and defensemen Liam McGing and Nicholas Gushue. It was the season and collegiate debuts for Jacobson and Gushue.
The Sun Devils complete their tour through Connecticut Saturday in Danbury against Sacred Heart before returning home Oct. 23-24 for two games against Division II Southern New Hampshire. Those games will be played at Oceanside Ice Arena in Tempe.
