SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Arizona State junior Gussie O'Sullivan walked alone into the ITA Regional Championships, and made quick work of her first two matches winning in straight sets.

"I am really happy with the way Gussie performed today," said Sun Devil assistant tennis coach Matt Langley. "It was her first tournament for the Fall and she carried herself well.

"I was pleased with the way she closed out her first match and stayed focused throughout her entire second match of the day, which is not always easy to do."

O'Sullivan started her morning at 9 a.m. against Vivian Lin of Cal State Northridge. She would sweep the match despite a late run by Lin, winning 6-2, 6-4.

She moved on to face San Diego State's Dora Somoracz in the next round and continued her winning streak, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

Back-to-back victories for Gussie today at ITA Regional Championships! Her next match is tomorrow at 10:15am vs. Pepperdine's Matea Cutura.

O'Sullivan will continue to face tougher opponents as she moves on, and draws Pepperdine's Matea Cutura tomorrow morning at 10:15 a.m. PST.

"I look forward to seeing how Gussie competes tomorrow and executes some of the things we have been talking about in practice against a quality opponent in Cutura from Pepperdine," Langley said.
