PULLMAN, Wash.—The No. 5 Arizona State volleyball team (15-2, 4-2 Pac-12), without senior outside hitter Macey Gardner, fell to Washington State (13-5, 2-4 Pac-12) in three sets, 25-14, 25-17, 25-21, on Sunday at Bohler Gym.

"It's an emotional weekend for our team,” head coach Jason Watson said. “The rigors of going on the road, coupled with the need to change our line-up, made it difficult.  Each of us is eager to get back to Tempe and re-group. I've always been impressed with the resilience of this team."

For the second straight match, junior Cassidy Pickrell led the way with 12 kills, while freshman Lexi MacLean, in her first career appearance for the Sun Devils, picked up eight kills and 10 digs.

Also for the Sun Devils, junior Bree Bailey picked up seven kills and two blocks, while senior Bianca Arellano recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 23 assists and 10 digs.

For the Cougars, Kyra Holt led the way with 11 kills, and Washington State used a 10-2 blocking advantage over ASU.

Up next, the Sun Devils remain on the road, traveling to Los Angeles to take on USC and UCLA on Friday and Sunday, respectively. The match against the Trojans is set for 8 p.m. PT and the match against the Bruins will serve off at 1:30 p.m. PT. Both will air on the Pac-12 Networks.
