SEATTLE, Wash.—The No. 5 Arizona State volleyball team suffered its first loss of the 2015 season, 3-0, to No. 6 Washington (6-25, 26-28, 16-25) on Friday at Alaska Airlines Arena.
The Sun Devils are now 15-1 on the year and 4-1 in Pac-12 competition while the Huskies sit at 15-1, 5-1 in conference action.
After dropping the first set, the Sun Devils led in the second, 20-16, before senior outside hitter Macey Gardner left the match with a left leg injury. Gardner will be rested as a precaution for Sunday’s match at Washington State, and will be evaluated upon the team’s return to Tempe.
Junior Cassidy Pickrell led the Sun Devils with 10 kills, while Gardner added nine and senior Whitney Follette and junior Kizzy Ricedorff added four kills apiece. Senior Mercedes Binns and junior Bree Bailey each added three block assists on the night.
Up next, the Sun Devils travel to Pullman, Wash., to take on Washington State on Sunday at 11 a.m. PT. The match will air on the Pac-12 Networks.
