TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State wrestling’s thee-time All-American and two-time Pac-10 champion Steve Blackford will be posthumously inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame, the organization announced on Monday.
Blackford won back-to-back conference titles at 165 pounds in 2001 and 2001, helping the Sun Devils to their 13th team championship in 2001. He also earned Pac-10 Wrestler of the Year honors in 2000.
At the NCAA Championships, Blackford finished in fourth in 1999, third in 2000, and fifth in 2001.
In his career, he finished with 138 all-time victories, No. 2 all-time in program history, while his 62 total dual victories sit at No. 3 in the record book. Blackford 32 major decision wins stands as the school record, while his 72 total bonus-point wins (32MD-11TF-31F) sits at No. 2 all-time.
Blackford was a two-time Iowa State Champion and high school All-American, and finished as the runner-up at the 1996 Freestyle Nationals and third at the Junior Greco-Roman Nationals.
