Why did you choose Arizona State?
I chose to come to Arizona State because I loved the team culture and felt instantly apart of the team on my recruiting visit. Also, ASU has so many opportunities and resources for students to ensure that they are successful inside the classroom and in their sport.
What’s been your favorite part about living in a new city like Tempe/Phoenix?
I love being able to explore new areas and enjoying the beautiful desert scenery and sunrise that is nothing like where I grew up.
What are you looking forward to most about your time here at ASU?
I am looking forward to traveling with the cross country and track team, and competing as a Sun Devil at the national level.
What is your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment was getting the opportunity to compete at the California state track meet and finishing 4th in the 800m race as a senior.
What do you like to do in you free time?
Besides running, I enjoy hiking, taking photos of nature, and cooking.
When did you start competing and when did you realize you wanted to compete at a higher level?
I started running my freshman year of high school just to stay in shape for competitive soccer. By the end of freshman year, I realized how much I loved the thrill of races and the team environment. That’s when I decided to concentrate on running and set goals to compete at a higher level.
Is there a professional athlete or person that inspires you? Why?
My high school coach, Brian Weaver, has had a tremendous impact on my life and inspires me to work hard every day to be a successful athlete and person.
If you could play another sport what would it be?
I think it would be so fun to play volleyball; unfortunately, I have terrible hand-eye coordination.
Do you have a pre-meet ritual?
Before every race, I listen to "Steal My Show" by Toby Mac. During high school, I would eat chicken and vegetable pasta the night before every race.
What is your dream job?
I am studying to become an orthopedic physician’s assistant. I would love to work as a physician’s assistant for sports teams or just work with athletes in general.
Follow Hannah and the rest of the Sun Devil cross-country and track and field team during their 2015-16 season.
