TEMPE, Ariz.—The Arizona State gymnastics team and head coach Dr. René Lyst announced the 2016 schedule on Wednesday, which features five home meets and a trip to Seattle, Wash., for the Pac-12 Championships in March.
ASU will appear on the Pac-12 Networks five times this season with three televised home meets, one televised road meet, and both sessions of the conference championships.
“We’re very excited to be featured on the Pac-12 Networks five times this season,” Lyst said. “It’s more than half of our conference schedule, and we’re really excited to be able to expose more and more people to our sport.”
The Sun Devils will open the 2016 campaign with back-to-back home meets, the first on Friday, Jan. 8 against Bowling Green at 7 p.m. MT. On Monday, Jan. 18, ASU will host Washington in the first Pac-12 Networks meet of the year, also at 7 p.m. MT.
“Our non-conference schedule will help us continue to improve our competiveness toward the postseason,” Lyst said. “Oklahoma is consistently a top-tier program, Auburn is coming off an appearance in the Super Six, and we’re very excited to host Penn State, another post-season qualifier, to end our home schedule.”
ASU hits the road for the next three meets, traveling to Norman, Okla., to take on Oklahoma on Friday, Jan. 22, before returning to conference competition at Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., on Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. PT. ASU will then travel to Stanford on Friday, Feb. 5, with start time TBA.
On Monday, Feb. 15, the Sun Devils will return home and to the Pac-12 airwaves as they host California at 7 p.m. MT
The annual rivalry meet against the Arizona Wildcats is set for Monday, Feb. 22 at Wells Fargo Arena at 7 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Networks.
ASU hits the road for two of the last three regular-season contests, first taking on UCLA in Westwood, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Networks before returning home to host Penn State on Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m. MT. The Sun Devils will round out the regular season on Friday, March 11 on the road at Auburn.
The 2016 Pac-12 Championships are set for Saturday, March 19 at American Airlines Arena in Seattle, Wash. The first session is set for 1 p.m. PT, while the second is set for 6:30 p.m. PT, and both sessions will be aired on the Pac-12 Networks.
The 2016 NCAA Regionals are set for Saturday, April 2, with host sites TBA, while the NCAA Championships are in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, April 15.
