Back in the summer of 2007, the Pac-12 offices (then the Pac-10) decided to honor a Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Since that time, 30 Sun Devils have earned the honor, second-most in the Pac-12. They have ranged from quarterbacks (Taylor Kelly), NCAA team champions (softball's Jackie Vazquez), NBA Draft picks (Carrick Felix) and the 2007-08 CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year for women's track (April Kubishta).
Three times five Sun Devils have earned the honor in a single year, while at least one Sun Devil has earned the honor every year. Incredibly, five softball players have won the award in eight years, while four Sun Devil women's golfers have done the same.
